The Beginning
The Company crossed a milestone in 1993, when Dr. Farhad Farassat and Said Kazemi arranged a management buyout of Delvotec. They immediately identified that a North American sales and service facility was critical to The Company’s future in the US market.
In late 1993, F&K Delvotec established a factory direct presence in the United States and hired Peter W. Bullock. Peter had retired from Hughes Micro-Electronics and was looking for a new challenge. He established F&K Delvotec Inc., the United States subsidiary of F&K Delvotec Bondtechnik GmbH, in March 1994 in a 1800 sq. ft. facility in Vista, California.
Building Reputation
Launching a factory direct sales and service organization is no easy task. The newly established F&K Delvotec Inc. organization needed decisive leadership and wisdom to be successful. This took shape in 1996, when Said Kazemi, part owner and R&D Manager of F&K Delvotec Bondtechnik GmbH, joined with Ken Biggs, the former President of West-Bond Inc.
Said Kazemi’s, technical expertise and communication skills, combined with Ken Biggs’ North American marketing and applications knowledge created a management team that was now ready to penetrate the competitive North American bonding equipment industry.
Vision of the Future
As Ken and Said planned ahead they realized that the 1800 sq. ft. facility in Vista California would not provide adequate space for the expected growth of the North American organization.
The Orange County region of Southern California became the focus for a new facility that would support the required expansion. Located between San Diego and Los Angeles, Orange County provides a centralized location within Southern California. In 1997 F&K Delvotec Inc. relocated from Vista to Foothill Ranch and the new 12,000 sq. ft. facility turned out to be an ideal choice.
